E-commerce continues to grow, and with it, consumer expectations are evolving. Today, people want much more than a parcel delivered to their doorstep. They expect to know where their parcel is at any moment, adjust delivery preferences whenever needed, and manage every step of the delivery process directly from their smartphone.

This shift is reflected in the growing adoption of Cargus Mobile, which has recently surpassed 3.6 million downloads. During the first months of 2026, the average number of unique monthly active users increased by 34% compared with the monthly average recorded in 2025, confirming the growing importance of digital tools in the parcel delivery experience.

A mobile App designed for both senders and recipients

Cargus Mobile was created to support two main categories of users: people who occasionally send parcels and recipients who want to track their deliveries in real time.

Through the app, users can:

  • Track their parcels in real time;
  • Redirect deliveries to any of the 2,100+ Cargus SHIP & GO locations;
  • Pay for shipping directly in the app;
  • Pay cash on delivery when collecting a parcel;
  • Initiate product returns quickly and easily.

The app is designed to give customers greater visibility, flexibility and control throughout the entire parcel delivery journey.

A better digital experience for every delivery

As digital services continue to evolve, consumers increasingly expect self-service solutions, instant access to information and seamless digital experiences. As a result, Cargus Mobile has become one of the company’s main digital touchpoints with its customers.

“The increase in downloads and active users shows that Cargus Mobile has become one of the main digital channels through which customers interact with our services. People want to know where their parcel is, pay quickly and securely, send parcels without unnecessary steps and benefit from flexible delivery options. Our goal is to provide a stable, intuitive and easy-to-use app, largely developed by our in-house team and continuously improved based on users’ needs. We will continue investing in Cargus Mobile to simplify as many stages as possible of both the shipping and delivery experience,” says Felix Crăciunescu, Chief IT Officer at Cargus.

Parcel tracking remains the most popular feature

Real-time parcel tracking continues to be the app’s most frequently used feature. At the same time, Cargus Mobile is becoming increasingly popular among occasional senders.

Currently, 21% of occasional senders use the app to create shipments, choosing a fast and convenient digital solution instead of traditional channels.

Cargus Mobile complements the company’s other customer channels, including the web platform, Contact Center and the nationwide Cargus SHIP & GO network. The app is available on Google Play, the App Store and Huawei AppGallery, allowing users to sign in quickly using either their email address or their Google or Apple account.

Mobile payments continue to gain popularity

The growing adoption of mobile services is also reflected in payment preferences.

Today, 33% of users making payments through Cargus Mobile choose Apple Pay or Google Pay, compared with approximately 22% in 2025 and just 16% at the end of 2024. This represents an increase of around 50% compared with last year and a doubling compared with late 2024.

Among users paying through the app, around 20% pay for the shipments they create themselves, while approximately 80% use the app to pay cash on delivery, demonstrating that Cargus Mobile effectively supports both senders and recipients.

Growing interest in out-of-home delivery

Consumer behaviour also highlights the increasing popularity of out-of-home delivery services.

Approximately 35% of app users access the SHIP & GO section to find convenient locations where they can send or collect parcels.

The highest usage levels are recorded in Bucharest, followed by Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Ploiești, Brașov and Iași, reflecting the growing role of digital parcel delivery solutions in cities with high e-commerce activity and increasing demand for fast, flexible delivery services.

Cargus Mobile has also received industry recognition, winning the “Best Courier Company App” award at the Romanian Courier & Postal Services Business Awards 2021.
